Samurai Points and rules.
Points
The basic points value of a trooper is worked out on its SV and then modified by the following.
Morale class: A +3, B +1, C 0, D -1, E -3
Skill levels
-10% -2, -5% -1, 0,0, +5% +1, +10% +2, +15% +4, +20% +8, +25% +16, +30% +32, +35% +64, +40% +128, +45% +256, +50% +512. (Heroes are made not bought)
Leadership bonuses: +1/0(1pt), +1/-1(2pt), +2/-1(3pt), +3/-1(4pt)
Killpower bonus: +1kp +1 pt, +2kp +2 pt, +3kp +4 pt
Description of Troop Types and abilities
Honour guards
- These are just loyal guards who will die for their lord. Like samurai they ride at no extra cost.
Body Guards
- Elite honour guards, bodyguards have limited leadership ability which adds a point to their cost.
Monks
- Monks have a straight +2 pts in addition to any other costs. Monks have A class Morale when defending a shrine. Monks armed with Naginata can arrow cut which adds two to their SV when faced by arrows. Unarmoured monks can also avoid arrows subtracting -10% from opposing archers attempts to hit. Mounted monks cost an additional extra point.
Ninja
- Ninja have an additional points cost of + (5) if not missle armed otherwise +(3). This is because Ninja without bows may attack opponenets at short range with small thrown objects. Darts and shuriken. These have a killpower of 2.
- All Ninja have chain armour and an effective SV of 11 though movement is unaffected.
- Ninja act as individuals rather than as units though they can operate in groups of up to four. A scattered group of Ninja do not count as a unit for moral purposes.
- Ninja can carry either one big bomb or three small bombs. Small bombs have a KP of 8 and effect all within a penny peice blast area. They also fail to explode on 1-3 on a D10. Big bombs are powder kegs and they explode the turn after they are set unless you wish to blow up your Ninja. The big bomb blast can effect those immediately the other side of a door. Bombs are one use weapons. To equip a Ninja with bombs cost 3 points. Both small and large bombs can be used against doors etc. A Ninja with a large bomb has movement penalties as an armoured trooper.
- Ninja can remain hidden among other units of troops until they reveal themselves. If they engage in combat their abilities will become obvious
- Ninja should have set missions eg steal, kill or spy.
Communication
- There is an additional point costs +1 for a standard or conch. The horn can be heard to a range of 1 mile. Standards can be seen at a range of one mile. Sashamono 0 pts can be identified at half a mile.
- Battle standard +5 pts. The Battle standard signifies that the lord has taken the field and its capture reduces the sides morale by one place. The battle standard can be used to raise the morale of a group of troops who have broken.
- The war Drum costs 5 pts and is used for signaling orders to a whole command.
- Other signalling devices that effect just one unit such as banners and fans cost just 1 pt.
Other
- Archery is a secondary skill and archers add their archery AF value or +1 whichever is greater.
- Gunners just add their gunnery skill level.
- A trooper mounted on a battleworthy horse has increased points of
- +8. Messengers horses +4 pts.
- Some other weapons also cost an extra point due to high Kp and to stop them being the only weapons fielded. These are the No-dachi and the Naginata.
- All people can swim or ride at an additional points cost.
- Airbags cost 2 points but can be used by more than one individual.

A typical small force could contain the following:
- 2 Honour guard, 2 Samuari with standard, 10 mounted Samurai, 20 Ashigaru foot, 10 Ashigaru archers, 2 conch blowers, foot Samurai and 2 retainers. Total points for this force would be 750.
A larger force comprising only foot troops.
- 2 Honour guard, 2 Samuari with standard, 15 Foot Samurai, 9 Foot Samurai with bows, 30 Ashigaru foot, 20 Ashigaru bows, 10 Ashigaru gunners, 2 conch blowers and 2 retainers. Total points for this force would be1250 points.
A large mixed force comprising both foot and mounted troops
- 2 Honour guard, 2 Samuari with standard, 15 Mounted Samurai, 10 Mounted Samurai with bows, 30 Ashigaru foot, 20 Ashigaru bows, 10 Ashigaru gunners, 2 conch blowers, 2 samurai signallers, and 2 retainers. Total points for this force would be 1550 points.
